The Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), established in 1987, has grown into a premier educational organization with a network of nearly 90 institutions, including Colleges of Engineering, Model Polytechnics, Colleges of Applied Science, Technical Higher Secondary Schools, and Regional Centres. IHRD has been at the forefront of providing quality education and training, particularly in the fields of Computer Science and Electronics.

The College of Applied Science, Malampuzha, established in the year 2000, is one among the Colleges of Applied Science managed by IHRD. The college initially functioned at its campus in Kallepully and has played a vital role in promoting higher education in Malampuzha and nearby regions.

In alignment with the Government of Kerala’s policy to expand higher and technical education to underserved areas, IHRD was entrusted with establishing such institutions. The college reflects the Government’s vision of empowering students from rural and semi-urban backgrounds, thereby contributing to their social and economic upliftment.

The institution is supported by qualified faculty, well-equipped laboratories, and adequate infrastructure that facilitate effective teaching and learning. It offers undergraduate programmes such as B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Electronics, and B.Com. Expanding its academic profile, a new department of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) was introduced in the year 2024.

A major milestone in the development of the college was the establishment of its new campus at Chemmenkad. The ground floor of the college building was inaugurated on 3rd June 2019. The first floor was inaugurated on 22nd July 2024. The college was fully shifted to this new campus from the academic year 2024–25, providing an enhanced academic environment and improved facilities.

With a strong commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, the college strives to nurture talented, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals. It aims to foster innovation, creativity, and lifelong learning, preparing students to meet the challenges of the modern world and contribute meaningfully to society.
