The College of Applied Science, Malampuzha was established in 2008 by the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), Government of Kerala. The college initially functioned at the Community Hall of Marutha Road Grama Panchayath, and the official inauguration of the college and its courses was held in August 2008.

The College is affiliated to the University of Calicut and offers Four-Year Undergraduate Honours Degree Programmes in:

  • B.Sc. Computer Science
  • B.B.A. (Finance)
  • B.Com. (Computer Application)

These programmes are conducted under the semester system with a curriculum and syllabus that are regularly revised and updated by the University of Calicut. Earlier, the college offered three-year degree programmes in B.Com. (Computer Application), B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.Sc. Electronics. The final batch of the three-year programmes will complete their studies in the academic year 2025–26.

The Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) is an autonomous educational institution established by the Government of Kerala in 1987. It is dedicated to promoting scientific advancement, technological progress, and economic growth through high-quality education and training. IHRD strives to maintain consistent academic standards and provide innovative and flexible programmes that address the current and emerging needs of society.

The college is located at Chemmenkad, near Kottekkad Bhagavathi Temple and behind the Public Health Centre of Marutha Road Grama Panchayath. It is conveniently situated just 6 km from Palakkad Town Railway Station, and 6 km from KSRTC Bus Station, Palakkad.

The inauguration of the ground floor of the college building at Chemmenkad was held on 3rd June 2019 by Mr. V. S. Achuthanandan, the former Chief Minister of Kerala. The first floor was inaugurated on 22nd July 2024 by Dr. R. Bindu, the Honourable Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice. The college was fully shifted to the new campus from the academic year 2024–25.
